Pick-Your-Own Crop Farms Near Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac

Where to go for fresh fruits and veggies by the bucket

Want to go berry-picking? Dig your own potatoes? Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Potomac are just a short drive away from several farms where your family can pick your own fresh fruits and veggies. Here are a few nearby farms to pick-your-own produce.


🫐 Bulter's Orchard (Open for Strawberry Picking May 15)

Butler's Orchard has pick-your-own fruit and veggies all summer long (and apples, pumpkins and Christmas trees in the months beyond). Check here for the crop calendar. Reservations are recommended, especially for the more popular crops. There is an admission fee ($3 online, $4 at the gate per person) in addition to the cost of your crops. 


🫐 Homestead Farm (Expects to Open in June)

This farm is Poolesville hopes to reopen in mid-June with pick-your-own crops. There is a $3 admission fee per person in addition to the cost of the fruit you pick. Here is the approximate calendar so you can plan your visit.

Check the picking conditions page on the farm's website before you make the drive out to Howard County to visit this farm. They also update the condition of crops coming in future weeks. Here are lists of all the you-pick fruits and veggies that the farm grows.


🫐 Rock Hill Orchard (Expects to Open in June)

This farm has a good variety of pick-your-own crops from June until the Fall. Picking happens on the weekends, but check the farm's website or facebook page for crop conditions before you visit. Also, be sure to visit the Woodbourne Creamery onsite to get ice cream made from the milk of the cows on the farm after picking in the fields!


🫐 Shlagel Farms (OPEN NOW)

In addition to fall festivities, this farm offers pick-your-own strawberries when they are in season. Picking is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. Check the farm's facebook page for up-to-date field conditions. 


🫐 Swann Farms (OPEN NOW)

This farm located about an hour away near the Patuxent River in Calvert County is open seven days a week for berry picking (check here to see picking conditions and what is in season).
